The Romanov family were all shot or stabbed by bayonets, and their bodies were taken away in a truck and disposed of in a forest twelve miles north of the city.
On the night of 29 December, 1916, Rasputin was invited to the home of Prince Felix Yusupov. The exact details of what transpired are shrouded in legend and mystery, but the most commonly-accepted version of events is based on Yusupov’s own account.
The Romanov dynasty began after Michael Romanov was elected Tsar of Russia by the Zemsky Sobor national assembly.
