The Battle of Castillon, considered to be the last battle of the Hundred Years’ War, was fought between France and England.
A major engagement on 7 May resulted in the capture of the English stronghold known as Les Tourelles and, the following day, English forces abandoned the siege of Orleans and withdrew.
Henry was crowned by the Bishop of Paris, as the Archbishop of Reims was aligned with the French crown. Attendance was limited, and the event failed to generate significant support among the French population.
